Elastic Compute Service

Virtual machines in Hong Kong (Tai Po), monthly or by the hour. Instances, disks, snapshots, backups, private networks, security groups and elastic IPs sit in one project, and an instance can join Fleet when you create it.BillingMonthly or pay-as-you-go: the instance, the disks and internet bandwidth are priced separately.

Every instance has a name, state, size and public address, and can be reinstalled, resized or released.

Choose by vCPU and memory. The size sets the ceiling.

The Console lists sizes from small to large by vCPU and memory, with the family, generation and CPU for each. After creation you can change the size within the family, or start from an image with a new instance.

  • Up to 20 instances in one order, with numbered names
  • The size carries a bandwidth ceiling; the elastic IP is chosen separately
  • The image sets the minimum system disk size

Pay up front for a period, or pay by the hour.

Monthly is paid when you order, for the periods the catalog offers. Pay-as-you-go is billed by the hour and can be released at any time. Either way the instance, the disks and internet bandwidth are priced separately, and the calculator uses the same quote as the Console's checkout.

  • Traffic billing is pay-as-you-go only
  • The monthly estimate for pay-as-you-go uses 730 hours and is a guide
  • If the balance is short, pay online at checkout

Instances, disks and networking stay in Hong Kong (Tai Po), the only region today.

Instances, disks and networks have to be in the same region. Disks exist apart from the instance: when you reinstall or release an instance you can keep the disk and attach it to another one.

  • There is one region today, and resources can't move to another
  • The region and availability zone are shown in the Console

A snapshot rolls back; a backup keeps a copy.

A snapshot stays in the same availability zone. You can roll a disk back to a snapshot, or create a new disk from it. A backup is kept apart from the disk, and restores to a new disk.

Snapshot

  • Roll a disk back to a point in time
  • Create a new disk from the snapshot
  • Stored in the same availability zone

Backup

  • Restore to a new disk
  • Kept apart from the disk
  • Useful to take one before a change

Private network, security groups and elastic IPs are set separately.

Instances live in a VPC and can have several network interfaces and private addresses. Security groups write inbound and outbound rules separately and cover IPv4 and IPv6. An elastic IP is billed by bandwidth or by traffic; a traffic-billed address costs an idle fee while it is unattached.

By bandwidth

  • Pick a fixed bandwidth ceiling
  • Charged by bandwidth and the time it is attached
  • Works with monthly and pay-as-you-go

By traffic

  • Pay only for outbound traffic
  • No separate bandwidth charge
  • Pay-as-you-go only

Sign in from the browser, or run a command directly.

The Console gives every instance a VNC console and Run command, so you don't need SSH configured first. SSH uses the elastic IP or the private address. Tick “Join Leaflow Fleet” when you create the instance and the machine appears in Fleet on first boot, with a web terminal, file manager and desktop.

  • The VNC console does not depend on SSH inside the instance
  • Run command returns the output to the Console, which suits a one-off check
  • Once it joins Fleet, Shipping can run commands on it too

Hand it to Shipping, or use the API and CLI.

Shipping can create instances, change security groups and add records in your project, following your approval setting at each step. Your own agent calls the same operations through MCP, the CLI or the SDKs.

  • A launch template keeps one set of creation options for next time
  • The operation log records every change

Questions

Can I run Windows?

Yes, Windows is among the public images. Linux images include Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream and openSUSE.

Where are the servers?

Hong Kong (Tai Po). Instances, disks and networking stay in that region, and moving them elsewhere is not supported today.

What does it cost per month?

It depends on the size, the disks and internet bandwidth. The calculator on this page gives the amount from Billing's live quote. Monthly is paid up front for the chosen period; pay-as-you-go is billed by the hour.

Can I resize an instance after creating it?

You can change the size within the same family, reinstall the system, or boot into rescue mode. Moving to another family means creating a new instance and attaching the disk.

What happens to my data when I release an instance?

Disks exist apart from the instance. When you reinstall or release an instance you can keep the disk and attach it to another one, and snapshots or backups restore to a new disk.

How do I sign in?

The Console offers a VNC console and Run command without needing SSH inside the instance; SSH goes over the elastic IP or the private address. Join Fleet at creation and you also get a web terminal, file manager and desktop.

Does it work with IPv6?

Security group rules cover IPv4 and IPv6. The exact form of private and public addresses is shown on the creation page.

Get started in the Console.

Top up at least US$1 before first use. After that, each product is billed at its public price.
